Delta Maid

Delta Maid

I’ve mentioned Delta Maid once or twice on here before and rightly so because she’s bloody good and this press photo is from the recent record label press session we did.  Delta’s from Liverpool, writes amazing songs, is influenced by the likes of Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and a whole host of country and blues [...]

The Wicked Whispers

The Wicked Whispers

Two of The Wicked Whispers were in the brilliant psych, garage, mod band Whiskey Headshot so I’m well looking forward to seeing this band play live and their debut gig will be at the Mathew Street Festival on August 29th.  More details here. These were shot a couple of weeks ago in a brief Saturday [...]

Tony Bennett

Tony Bennett

A week ago I was impressed with the news that Tom Jones was 70 and still sounding great, at least I was until I heard Tony Bennett sing last night who’ll be 84 in August and sounding as good as he ever did!  This sold out show at the Liverpool Phil last night started off [...]

Jamie T

Jamie T

Haven’t been down to Academy O2 for a while but got thrown back in at the deep end last night with Jamie T and a strangely usual night. First up was the photographers contract which wasn’t really a bad one and you’ll be glad to know that Jamie T doesn’t own me, then I sat [...]

The Blackout

The Blackout

The Blackout played two gigs in The Masque for Liverpool Sound City and they were Friday night and Saturday afternoon for which some of the crowd camped outside the venue from Thursday evening! They camped Thursday, watched Friday’s gig, back outside for another night on Seel Street and then back in for the matinee! Madness!

Sound Movement

Sound Movement

I first met this band around a table in Alma De Cuba at the first Liverpool Sound City and we got on like the proverbial house on fire.  We met again in 2009 and this time the table got bigger whilst we’ve also crossed paths in Dubai and Texas so I think that’s nearly classed [...]

Lost Brothers

Lost Brothers

This is Mark and Oisin who are The Lost Brothers and this is them playing at the British Embassy on the North West showcase put on by Liverpool Sound City. They also played the same gig last year and then went onto Portland, Oregon to record their second album which I think has still to [...]

Don’t Mess With Texas

This was taken on the night that Jimmy the German, who had an Irish surname by the way, sorted out a gig in a new biker’s pub on the outskirts of Austin.

It’s all about the gimmicks

It's all about the gimmicks

Maybe just been able to play and sing just isn’t good enough to capture the attention of today’s music market. Or maybe he just wasn’t too good on the singing guitar playing thing and needed something to divert the attention.

Percy Sledge

Percy Sledge

This is from the afternoon of portraits I did with a whole load of legendary soul singers last year when they were part of a David Gest ‘This Is My Life’s show at Liverpool’s Philharmonic Hall.  I didn’t post the Percy Sledge (When A Man Loves A Woman for the couple of people out there [...]
