Elaine Cunningham Interiors

Elaine Cunningham Interiors

Commercial break for a change and these are some photographs I took just before the launch last week of Elaine Cunningham Interiors on Chapel Street in Liverpool city centre. The shop, next to the Bo Concept store, is the second Elaine Cunningham Interiors shop with the original one still open on Aigburth Road.  Including commercial [...]

Mathew Street part 2

Mathew Street part 2

Packed out from the outset, part two of the the two day Mathew Street Festival was amazing with my assigned stages being the classic albums on Derby Square, the mod stage on Water Street (thank you!) and the early Beatles stage on Exchange Street with my highlights being Kappa’s Sun Sessions set on Derby Square [...]

The Phil on Tour

The Phil on Tour

Sometimes I wish that orchestras still wore them Viennese style wigs and white stocking outfits and had to keep them on at all times so that I could photograph them on tour and make it look like they were an orchestra on tour as getting anything more than the rehearsal/concert routine is the hardest thing [...]

Basqueing

Basqueing

I’m in northern Spain with The Phil and currently awaiting hotel style internet to upload photographs to the Echo picture desk. I’ve been to see Vasily lead the band in a brilliant start to a Spanish tour and along the way, and it’s only been 24 hours, I’ve climbed a hill in a town that [...]

Liverpool Pride

Liverpool Pride

I posted a few photographs up on Sunday from Liverpool’s first Pride event but here’s a bigger gallery from the day, though it’s only a fraction of what went on that day as I was mostly down On The Waterfront

On The Waterfront

On The Waterfront

On The Waterfront lived up to it’s name yesterday with dance performances that included water pistols and a company from Spain called Factoria Mascaro who kicked water into the audience, and I got a soaking too, from a purpose built elevated pool. Their show is incredible and very very funny and on again today at [...]

Rainbow Circus

Rainbow Circus

luckily the rain stayed away and Liverpool saw possibly it’s most colourful day ever as the first Liverpool Pride took to the streets in a way bigger way than anybody could ever have expected.

Voala

Voala

Last night saw the launch of the second On The Waterfront weekend, this one being dance themed, and the opening show could not have been any better! Voala are airborne dance performers and this show in front of the Liver Buildings was absolutely amazing and the second and final show tonight is well worth sacking off all other plans for!

Portishead

Portishead

I photographed Portishead on numerous occasions around the time of the first two albums including going out on some of the early tours as well as shooting the bands portraits and I’ve just uploaded some of these photographs to the archive though I’m sure there’ll be quite a few more to follow. This photograph here [...]

Facebook Archive

Facebook Archive

For a while now I’ve been running my archive over at Facebook and currently have no intentions of leaving but I will be concentrating on getting all of my archive available on this site so that all work can be purchased as prints and/or licensed commercially.  The Facebook album system is also slow and it’s [...]

Ticket To New York

Ticket To New York

I’ve been shooting quite a few band promos recently and this is Ticket To New York, a Liverpool based duo who have just announced a series of gigs at Jalons on Smithdown Road where they’ll be performing with a string section! More details over at their Facebook site.

Delta Maid

Delta Maid

I’ve mentioned Delta Maid once or twice on here before and rightly so because she’s bloody good and this press photo is from the recent record label press session we did.  Delta’s from Liverpool, writes amazing songs, is influenced by the likes of Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and a whole host of country and blues [...]

Queen Victoria

Queen Victoria

I was booked yesterday to photograph the plaque exchange ceremony onboard Cunard’s Queen Victoria and some of the quay entertainment provided for visitors but I didn’t know I was going to end up on a Royal visit, documenting a ship’s tour for Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall!  I’ve only been on a royal visit once [...]

PIL

PIL

Yesterday was a music, more music and photography sort of day which kicked off with a press and artwork photo session in stunning early morning light, on the backstreets of the city centre, with Liverpool folk singer Rob Clarke and ended up with a great documentary on Bothy Ballad singing. Along the way, I spent [...]

Elizabeth Cook

Elizabeth Cook

I got to this gig at the Stanley Theatre last Saturday for the end of Piney Gir’s set and caught the in between band banter that was being supplied by host for the evening Bob Harris and he started off talking about Nashville and then moved on to Austin where I’d visited earlier on in [...]

Proms Rehearsal

Proms Rehearsal

This is the final post from The Phil’s visit to the BBC Proms on Monday and these were taken during the afternoon rehearsal.  It’s now well deserved time off time for Liverpool’s biggest band but watch this space from mid August as I head out to Spain for a few days to photograph the orchestra’s [...]

Photographing Classical Concerts

Photographing Classical Concerts

Shooting The Liverpool Philharmonic at the BBC proms on Monday night was one of the strangest live gigs I’ve ever shot for a variety of reasons.  Firstly, guest photographers at the Proms get chaperoned at all times whilst working in the hall which is great because they know the venue so well and are there [...]

Shiver Me Timbers

Shiver Me Timbers

Yesterday’s On The Waterfront festival saw a pirate muster at the Albert Dock and an attempt to get the biggest gathering of people dressed as pirates, in one place,  into the Guinness Book Of Records. Whilst I’m sure there were enough there to break the record, getting them all over to register and then stand [...]

Back On The Waterfront

Back On The Waterfront

I was back at the Albert Dock and Pier Head yesterday for the second performance of ‘A Wave At Picasso’ at the Salthouse dock in the evening as well as an afternoon of brilliant street entertainment with my current favourites being the two old ladies who drive around on giant shopping trollies whilst playing Vanilla [...]

On the waterfront part 2

On the waterfront part 2

Few more photographs from last night’s first performance of Wave at Picasso event on the Salthouse Dock.  Lots more On The Waterfront photographs to appear over the next few days.

Wave at Picasso

Wave at Picasso

This weekend, and another at the beginning of August, sees Liverpool’s waterfront turned into a giant theatre, playground, art gallery and everything in between as this year’s On The Waterfront festival has the best in street theatre, performance art and a whole lot more at the Pier Head and Albert Dock.  Last night saw the [...]

The Little Secrets

The Little Secrets

This is The Little Secrets who are a new local band who were supporting Adam Green at Academy O2 the other night. Don’t know much about them as I had to head back upstairs rather sharpish to grimeworld but they did seem to be attracting a fair bit of attention with loads of photographers clambering [...]

Bad weather?

Bad weather?

This evening I was photographing a Liverpool Philharmonic reception on the 5th floor of the Hope Street Hotel, and whilst the views are incredible at any time of day,  in the middle of a thunderstorm the whole drama of the city’s skyline took on a whole new look and I don’t think I’ve ever seen [...]

Bashy + 1

Bashy + 1

This is Bashy and his guest singer who’s name escaped me in the battle between the speakers and my ears!
