I got to this gig at the Stanley Theatre last Saturday for the end of Piney Gir’s set and caught the in between band banter that was being supplied by host for the evening Bob Harris and he started off talking about Nashville and then moved on to Austin where I’d visited earlier on in the year. He then went on to even talk about Chicken Shit Bingo which I’d also been to and wrote about here and I was even more surprised to find that somebody else in the audience had been to the same event and that they were bringing over the venue’s house singer, Dale Watson, to play a gig at the Edinburgh Dockers’ Club in Clubmoor on August 10th. Hopefully more details on that gig to follow. Anyway, I sadly only got to stay for a bit of Elizabeth Cook’s gig, before heading down to the waterfront again, but she sounded brilliant and well worth checking out.
